Stopping Smoking
It's never too late to stop smoking. Once you get over the age of 35, every year you continue to smoke costs you 3 months of life expectancy.
70% of smokers say they want to stop smoking for good.
Quitting smoking is difficult because nicotine addiction is a powerful force to overcome. But it's not impossible and these days there's better technology, information, support services and encouragement to quit than ever before.

The Hull and East Riding NHS Stop Smoking Service recognises that everyone is different and so offers a wide range of free services to support smokers who want to quit. From individual to group support sessions, in person or over the phone. People are offered a method of quitting smoking that suits them:
- Six-week Group Sessions at one of the many Non-smoking Clinics, available by appointment.
- Walk-In Centres, providing one-to-one support without needing an appointment. Lasting approximately 15 minutes per week for 6 weeks.
- Dedicated one-to-one telephone support and advice - available on 0800 915 5959
- Home visits for pregnant woman in Hull
- Free nicotine replacement therapy; including patches, gum or nasal spray
